Yamaha Banana Plugs

Hi All.

The manual for the Yamaha 2065 says that no banana plugs on the UK/EU/Asia models. Surely this can't be true. I can't stick a 4mm banana plug into the socket because there is an inner circular disc like thing in the socket itself. I've read on other forums that I need to force it in or pull it out. Any advice? I don't want to tamper with an amp that I just had to fork out for.

Thanks.

I have the Unique Prfoducts banana plugs and the are very nice quality. There are two set screws to tighten and hold the wire. There is also an end tapered pin inside the banana plug which can be screwed down to make the banana plug itself fit more securely ( similar to the plastic pop rivets on car under body fender wells. This might allow it to work on your Yamaha!

H, Nerve. I know that some European models are like what you described. The plastic cap is placed on the speaker terminals because of safety reasons (I'm guessing that there is a regulation for it). I'd read that power plugs have the same size and spacing, so they try to idiot-proof it so that someone won't plug a speaker terminal into a power outlet.

I didn't check the web thoroughly to see if the RX-V2065 has removable caps, but someone here might know - or just do a web search if you haven't already.

Do the caps look like they'd come off?

Those plastic caps pop rite out..
Use a small awl tool.
Caps were installed for the above mentioned reason that the banana jack is similar in spacing/size to the Euro AC plug..

Just my $0.01... ;)
