Does anyone know the power output of this amp. Would it make a good zone 2 amp? I like the ability to be able to add 2 sets of speakers.

Yamaha RX-497

The RX-496 (older model) is 75 Watts x 2 channels. This is a stereo receiver, not just an amplifier. Also, it is not really designed to run both pairs of speakers simultaneously.

If you already have a receiver with a zone 2 line level output, you are better off with a less expensive 2 or 4 channel amplifier to power the speakers in other rooms.

An integrated amp is more like a receiver than amp.
so the ax-497 is a stereo "receiver" without a lot of fancy features.

For a zone 2 amp that feeds from the pre-amp outs you'll want a power amp.
I would recommend an actual 4 channel power amp.

I see, could you recommend a good one for about $300 or so. 2 channel amp will be fine for my zone 2. I keep hearing the name outlaw. Is that in my price range?

Yamaha has the Yamaha ax-497 amp listed as a new product this year. The part number is very close to past receivers. here is the yamaha page.

It doesn't list the power output.

.....Zoysia, if you, in fact, must run power to the Klipsch sub first, and then to the full-range speakers, you can't run but two channels of power to the sub, and I believe that will be the hook-up...look for a two-channel amp with 150 or so watts rms, and parallel two pair of full-range speakers from the sub outs, if you're after 2 pair of full-range in your zone 2.......

Outlaw doesn't make a 2 channel power amp. but they have a mono (1 ch) amp that is amazing. Sadly getting 2 would be twice the budget.
I would recommend the Onkyo M-282 (100 w/ch) in your price range.
Or either of the Audiosource AMP-200 or AMP-300.

.....good advice, T, that AMP-300 has 150 a side....the AMP-200 has 80 a side.....

I ended up buying the Niles SI-2125 amp. I am waiting for its delivery.

Thanks for all of your advice.
