yamaha avr 2020 phono question

this is for the avr 2020 owners. I was wondering if the phono processing was any good on the 2020 or is a phono preamp required?

I have an older RX-V1800 and the phono preamp section of that receiver is excellent. I don't need to buy an external pre-amp. The onboard phono preamp supports Moving Magnet (MM), not Moving Coil (MC) which has a lower output then MM. Unless you use MC cartridges, then MM cartridges, I would NOT bother getting an external phono pre-amp.

Thanks for the information! While I love to acquire new electronics, I kind of want to put it off as long as I can!
