I didn’t think anything could be more poorly written than their manuals. But, there you have it. Check the 4K 120 line. As written, one would mistakenly assume that ALL HDMI ports will support 4K 120 after a firmware update as “(7 In/3 out)” is clearly written at the end. But, the firnware release makes no mention that the HDMI OUT 3 is not capable of 4K 120 after the firmware update. Yamaha needs to rewrite ALL of their s#%ty manuals and product pages and start issuing refunds and rebates for what was and continues to be false advertising.
Completely agree. Customers are treated as naive purchasers. Even if this was a publishing mistake by someone who writes website content, it's still unacceptable, because there must be an engineer or HDMI connectivity specialist who would proof-read and check the accuracy of all information and port capabilities.

There are PLENTY of other problems in life to address other than not having 3 HDMI ports with 4K/120Hz, etc.
True, but this is not about life problems. Yamaha or other AVR vendors do not sell solutions for life problems.

In two years, some owners would want to plug HDMI dongle in that port 3 to enjoy 4K/120 live sports broadcast in Zone 2. If they do not care now, they will be disappointed later and thinking "Oh, but we were told that all ports are capable"... You can always say it's "first world problems", but that's not the point here. You are being sold a product with inaccurate infomation for current and future usage.

Okay, I admit that is a good point. I cannot debate that. :D

I also just had lunch, so I do tend to be a lot more agreeable on a full stomach. :D

I will be off work tomorrow, so I will agree to just about anything tomorrow. :D

Yamaha has a good rep for sure. It was earned. But, the new model releases were a mess to say the least. They need to make good on a few things right quick.

A handful of posters in a forum dedicated to audio equipment do not speak for the many. They certainly do not speak for the gamers. In case anybody has forgotten, gaming is bigger business than music and movie consumption. Gamers aren’t just buying consoles. Many are investing in gaming PC setups that are insane.

If one goes to any store selling electronics, there is no shortage of streamers or disc players. There are few console and storage options available, if any. Those are bought up by gamers.

So, some poor slob sets up two rooms in their basement. One room is for movies and the other for gaming. They get an LG Oled TV for each room, cuz’ Sony f#%ked gamers, and connect an XBOX Series X to a Yamaha RX-A8A and put those ol’ Vegas in the game room. They have new surrounds and still thump. That poor slob thinks assigning the game room to Zone 2 and using HDMI OUT 3 will result in one being able to play Gears 5 in 4K Dolby Vision @120fps while some watch a movie in the other room. They will never be able to do it. Yamaha f#%kin’ lied. It is a non issue to some. But, it is a very big f#%kin’ deal to those who shelled out good money and were basically robbed.

I get that many don’t seem to care, but if you bought a new Aventage model, you paid for features that they advertised and can never deliver. It’s not a little thing. F#%kin’ stand up for your fellow man for f#%k’s sake. You may need the support for something you care about some time. Yikes, not sure I had too little or too much coffee. Another cup should give me the answer.:D

Make it an Irish or 3. That should help.

Oh... And I totally agree with the rest of that, too.

Except the part about the poor slob that re-foamed his Vegas. :p

@AcuDefTechGuy have you heard any news/rumours about Yamaha introducing new V4A/V6A/A2A models this year? They were announced 2020 August so there is good chance end of summer perhaps. Denon will be introducing some new models later that is certain.

If it weren't for this site, and AH members like you and a few others like MCode, we'd be in the dark from jump!

Speaking of OLED, how you digging your new LG?
Well, I f#%kin’ hate the settings menus and remote control. What a s#%t show. But, the Game Optimizer menus are cool. Oh, and the picture, holy s#%t! Soooo f#%kin’ good. I’m watching everything over again. “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” IMAX Enhanced version is f#%kin’ mesmerizing.o_O I think I mentioned elsewhere that the new Spidey movie is amazing. Sony makes a damn good disc.

I really wished they’d brought 3D back until I bought this f#%ker. If you light and focus content properly, this thing will make it look 3D. I can’t say enough about the picture quality and I love watching it in a dark room with no other light source. The blacks are f#%kin’ black, just the way they should be.

I’m gaming upscaled 1080p @30/60Hz ‘til this f#%kin’ XBOX 360 Elite dies. They actually built a good one with the Elite. Just my luck. Be a shame if I spilled a beer on it.;) Maybe I’ll pop in Rock Band and screech through some of my favorite hits. That ought to kill it.:D

P.S.
F#%k you Samsung for blowing out the picture. They are doing it still with their new sets. It’s nice to get a more natural looking image. Oh, and who knew HDMI-CEC could actually function well? This TV stays off when you turn it off. F#%kin’ Samsung. Anyway, we now continue with your regularly scheduled program.:p
