Yamaha AV Receiver, Time Warner HD Box, Volume Control Issue HELP!!!!

Here is the equipment in question:

Yamaha HTR-6130 AVE Surround Receiver, brand new
Time Warner's Scientific Atlanta 4250 HD cable box

Here's the original setup: The cable box output runs through the receiver, and then to my tv (A new Sharp 42" Flat panel). At first, all cabling involved component video/RCA audio from the cable box to the Yamaha, with component only to the tv set. All audio ran through the receiver through the speakers. Using this setup, I was able to control the volume using my Time Warner remote.

The problem: I recently switched cabling from component/RCA to HDMI/digital optical from the cable box to the Yamaha, and then HDMI from the Yamaha to the tv. I have to use a separate digital audio output between the cable box and the receiver, b/c the receiver does not pass HDMI audio to its speakers (that's what you get for buying the lowest receiver in the line).

Now, I can no longer control the volume with the Time Warner remote, only with the Yamaha remote. No biggie, but it does mean I'm double-fisting remotes to change channels and control volume.

I've programmed all of my components into the TW remote (though it won't allow control of the receiver), and have gone through all of the Volume lock settings in the TW instructions. Cable box audio has been set to HDMI out, as well as Dolby Digital out, no difference.

Any clues? Am I stuck with double-fisting b/c of the dual audio outputs coming out of the cable box to the receiver? Thanks guys.

don't set your audio out to HDMI if your receiver won't accept it. I have the same cable box, but I use HDMI for my audio and video. So unless changing your audio settings on the cable box makes a difference, it looks like your only other option is to get a universal remote that you can program to use whatever decive you need to control whatever, like a Logitech Harmony remote.
