Yamaha and the Presence Channel...

Is the presence channel worth hooking up?

At the moment, I have them wired, but they seem to be off more then they are playing. It seems they only work in center sound fields. The sounds fields that I seem to be in most of the time, is the PCM and DD.

Should I take these speakers down and use them somewhere else in the house?

The presence channles only work when you use the Cinema DSP modes, which I don't care for anyway. So I would use them as surround back speakers, or for use in a different zone if your receiver suppoorts extra zone(s).

Yep, I use mine in zone two. Not much use in the "presence" mode but then again, I never use any DSP mode.

Presence channels seem to work better on systems that aren't terribly expensive. With a set of really nice speakers all around I find that they don't add as much as with entry-level systems.
