Yamaha - 8HX floorstanding speakers

Hello,

I have been offered a discount on a pair of these speakers by a friend of mine. He highly recommends these and the price will work out to $1000 a pair.

Looking for help on two issues:
a. Price: Cant seem to find these speakers listed anywhere and so, dont know how to make out whether the discount is meaningful
b. Quality : How good are these speakers? Any owners? Can you pls help by reviewing the specs at

they look like the premium version of the NS-777 towers

I saw the article on eastwoodhifi - could not place the timeline of the article. Anyway, cant believe it costs 3999$ per pair - probably Canadian $ a long time back.

On the other hand, it does look like the NS 777 towers which are only $600 a pair.

Still confused if there's any value here.
