Yamaha 863 possibly overheating...

I just set my 863 up with ECA 4/44 speakers and a E10 sub. I noticed last night that it was getting fairly hot. I do not know how these new recievers fair when it comes to heat and what actually constitutes normal operating temps and above normal.

I was considering mounting one or two fan units in the back of my console in an attempt to keep this thing cooler. Does anyone have any experience with doing this, any ideas or suggestions?

Not sure what the impedance/sensitivity is for those speakers, but it's worth making sure you are running eight ohm speakers. Also, it seems like the newer receivers are running hotter in general. Try to give it as much air as possible if you are concerned.

ohms rating on speakers

The speakers are EMP ECA 4 and ECA 44. The fronts and surrounds are all rated at 8 while the center is rated at six. After posting the question about which ohms setting to go with, I was told to stay at 8... The word on the street was that the Yamaha 863 could handle it... I do not know if it was coincidence but I was playing around with my IPOD dock for the 863 yesturday, sampling different music to check out the speaker performance... some loud some not so loud, but mostly loud... that could have had something to do with it...? But I should hope that listening to music above and beyond the db level I would watch tv at is not going to stress this 863 with these speakers...!!!! I hope I made the right choices...
