Yamaha 5890 and Lip-sync

I am new to this forum in fact any forum, this is my first post....ever. I have been reading threads for months on the Yamaha 5890 and Pioneer 1015 and almost bought the Pioneer because of the price difference and value. Then the Lip-sync issue came up and the Pioneer doesn't have it. The Yami has it, along with 2 more optical in and 1 more coaxil digital in. With all this in mind I have Klipsch KG4's for the mains and Klipsch center, rears are Polk should I buy the Yami or Pio??
I know I'm looking for justification to spend the extra $$, but will the Yami be too bright with the Klipsch? My listening is 20% music and 80% movies.

Thanks for the help.

Unless you will be only using CRT displays, I would only buy a unit that offers lip-sync.

Thanks AVRat, I appreciate the input, apparently no one else cares about lip-sync issues. As this was my first post I thought I must be asking a lame question or something. Again thanks for responding.

I was in the same situation. Was going to get the 1015, but decided on the 5890 because it had lip sync. They seem very similar otherwise. I use a front pj, so I didnt want to take the chance of needing lip sync, but so far I dont.
FYI, I paid $499 for the 5890 from an authorized online store. The 1015 was about $100 less though.

df4801, thanks for the info. Where did you find a 5890 online for $499 that was authorized. Everything I have seen so far says that Yamaha and Pioneer both have policies stating that only authorized dealers that maintain the set high price levels will get the warranty honored. I was looking at etronics and they want $459 but they don't claim to be authorized. I have had no experience with etronics maybe someone will comment on them.

Etronics has recieved decent reviews at ResellerRatings.com. I have purchased a couple small items from them and have no complaints.

They are not an authorized Yamaha dealer. Check their FAQ section. They claim that they will help as much as possible if there is a problem but there is no garruntee. I am tempted to buy the Yamaha 5860 from them because it is the lowest price I have found from a reputable dealer. I don't know if I want to go without a warranty, however.

Hi Ho
I hear ya on the warranty. I noticed that they offer a third party policy but I haven't heard any feed back on Philips Priorty Service Pland or Mack Warranty if they are any good. I may be looking a little longer for a online seller, I saw some bad press on Etronics and how their customer service is less than addeptable. I don't like the fact that there is no phone number posetd on their page, red flags go up. I may check out Abe's of Maine.

Yeah, if the price on Newegg wasn't at MSRP ($499) I would buy it from them in a heartbeat. I don't normally go looking around at online stores I have never heard of but when the savings can top $200 it is a very good incentive.
