I have the Yamaha 5230 surround in a box system. My question is should I scrap it and start over or just add better speakers? I have the Samsung 5065 and HD931 DVD player. It sounds all right but I want to hit the dirt when something explodes in a movie.

Thanks! Usta

That appears to be a fairly capable receiver. I wouldn't throw it in the trash just yet.
I'd start with a new powered sub. There are plenty of recomendations for those here.
After that get some better speakers and finally, if the reciever is not performing up to par look at a new receiver.
The biggest improvement you'll see in in better speakers.

Well I guess the search begins. I am moving to a new house and it has a room that is 18x24. I think that I can get it pretty dark so I am thinking about a projector. Can I run my projector and the Samsung 5065 on one reciever and speaker system.

Thanks! Usta

Yes, but just barely. That reciever doesn't appear to have a great deal of digital inputs. Let alone a complete lack of digital outputs.
I still stand behind my previous post but if you plan to do any video switching in the future you will out grow that reciever very quickly.
