Can either of these receivers handle HDMI to HDMI via a Motorola DVR from Comcast? I have heard many horror stories. I am looking to buy a new receiver and I really want HDMI connections but I do not care about upconverting because in the next three years everything on tv has to be digitalized by the cable compnaies per Congress. Please correct me if I am wrong!
Am suggestions for a receiver would be appreciated with the following system:

Polk RTI 12, RTI 10, CSI5, Outlaw monblock 2200 amps for the LCR and Denon 3910 DVD.
Thanks!

HDMI receivers

I read about a few issues using the HDMI switching feature on the new receivers. It seams that some of the cable boxes need a firmware update to solve the problem. Other users with HDMI from TV to cable box have reported that they need to switch the TV off of HDMI before turning it off or it will crash the cable box.

HDMI is an evolving standard. You might consider saving money and buying a Yamaha RX-V2500 or Denon 3805, especially if you currently have a single HDMI source. You can get an external HDMI switch box down the road if you need it.

Concerning the mandated switch to HDTV, congress can change the date any time they want. Also, 3 years is a long time in the electronics industry, so if the upconversion to 720P and 1080i feature on the new Yamaha helps you enjoy your HDTV for the next 3 years then it might be worth considering.

I had thought for months regarding receiver. I finally pick RX-2600 & sleep well :). Let's say if few hundred buck is not an issue then why I have to spend almost near thousand dollar to get an old model ..!?!?!? At least for now 2600 is the latest of all out there w/HDMI, I can still utilize it to use it in a long run for several yrs regarding electronics.

...just my 2 cents !

The congressional mandated switch to digital transmission has nothing to do with cable, only OTA.

Just got my Yamaha RX-V2600 today...

Sadly, the Yamaha 2600 and my Scientific Atlanta 8300HD DVR from Time Warner don't appear to work together. I get the "Your TV isn't HDCP compliant so please use the component outputs" message. My cable box worked just fine directly connected to my 60" Sony SXRD HDTV (KDS-R60XBR1). (sigh)

I did find out the cause though...
