Question 1:
I am having two problems with the 2500. I just got my new 5.1 surround Energy C speakers and LMF1 sub. I did the auto setup and it says my center channel is incorrectly hooked meaning the polarity is wrong. I checked and it seems fine. Did it again and same problem. Did total of 3 times but the center channel works fine on movies and such. Should i be worried?

Question 2:
I have been testing movies with my Sony dvd player with the reciever and have noticed that on the display of the yamaha it shows a little display l.e.d show up when certain speakers are on i presume meaning if i have dts movie and put it on THX then L,R,Surr. L, Surr. R, and LMF will light up. Which is good. HOWEVER, if i change it to Neo something only L and R turn on. A lot of movies are in Dolby Digital 5.1 and if I put them in Neo, THX, or other modes only L and R light up on my reciever. Shouldnt they all be lit up???? Note that all speakers work no matter what mode it is in but it seems wierd that the LED's only show up when a DTS dvd is playing and its on THX mode. Thanks guys.

Hi, Have the same issues with my Kef Q7s and Q4s attached to the 2500 - all four speakers polarity is wrong according to the setup. The centre and rear surrounds are fine.

I have checked the wiring and it is correct - now I ignore it - some speakers do not work with the Ypao. I think the Audioholics 2500 review may mention this issue.

DTS Neo 6 applies conventional 2-channel signals to a digital matrix decoder used for DTS-ES Matrix 6.1 to achieve 6.1 channel surround playback. It enables full bandwidth reproduction of 20 Hz to 20 kHz for all 6.1 channel sources. DTS Neo 6 Cinema gives emphasis on separation, and can also be used with sources recorded in conventional surround formats because the in-phase component is assigned mainly to the center channel and the reversed phase component to the surround (SL, SR and SB channels).

When playing DVD's, make sure to go to the language option, and choose 5.1, 6.1 or DTS on the dvd's options screen. Then let the receiver automatically pick the playback method.

Sometimes speakers are wired inverse polarity/out of phase internally, as was mentioned in the Audioholics review for this amp. However you'll know if the YPAO is right or wrong as it will either sound good or bad! Try both and see which sounds better to you.

Skip the wiring check on the auto setup if you are sure they are wired correctly. I have to do the same thing. And let the receiver auto detect for decoding as previously mentioned. ;)

My KEF Q11's, Q10c and Q2ds's all show up as reversed polarity, except for one of the Q2ds, which should actually have the polarity reversed, since it's the left dipole (as far as I can tell???). I now just skip the polarity check in YPAO.
FWIW.

So How come if I play a dvd that has dolby digital 5.1 ... the reiciever only displays front and left speaker eventhough all speakers are being played???? I could understand it displaying that if it the dvd was a 2.0 sound but in this case it is 5.1. Do any of the 2500 users know if this happens to u?

First, check that the Input Mode on the receiver is set to "DVD - Auto". Then , check your DVD player's set up menu and ensure that the digital audio is enabled. The fact that you are only seeing left and right light on the amp means that is all the amp is "seeing" or receiving from the player. Of course one of the DDPLII or Neo 6 modes are prob kickin in, which is why your hearing sound from all 5 speakers.

how come when i play dts movies and switch dolby to dts format by pressing audio on my dvd that the reciever picks up the signal and the reciever shows all 5 speaker icons but when its on dobly 5.1 it isnt. Is it a dvd problem or reciever? Its on dvd auto i believe.

Something in your setup is wrong. If you're getting DTS you should be getting DD. Check that input mode is defo set to DVD - AUTO and not DVD - DTS. What brand DVD player are you running? I know for a fact that both DD and DTS have to be properly setup on the DVD player (and separately too).

Another question is I am setting my speakers using YPAO, and its making my front and center speakers as large and the two rears as small. Is this okay? my speakers are energy C-9,and CC-3 .

If you have a competent sub then you might find that setting the mains to small is a better option. But, just try it both ways and go with what sounds best. Every setup is different. Things like room acoustics, sub quality, room size, etc, all can effect which setting is best. You are the only one that can decide which is best. Unless, you throw a huge party and we all come over and hear for ourselves?

I would check the dvd players settings. Some players remember the settings and some don't. Set the players audio to all and video to multi channel or something equivalent. A dvd which has a DTS "flag" (encoded on dvd which basically says"hey,I'm dts encoded!) is sometimes recognized by the player or receiver but not always. I have a copy of American Beauty which is both DTS and DD 5.1. I have to go to disc menu and manually choose between the two. During auto setup on recvr don't pay attention too much to how the 2500 chooses the spkr size. Larg, small, etc. Just set the crossover to about 90 or so and listen. Go to manual setup-spkr size-and switch between large and small. I have mine setup with fronts lrg and surrounds small with bass /lfe crossover at 90hz. I saved this setting in settings memory and then play with the settings some more. If I get confused or frustrated(whichever comes first) I simply recall my saved setting. It's all in the manual. The led's that you are mentioning are displaying the signal source being received by the 2500. If you are watching/listening to anything(movie-music-concert video...whatever) and you only see 2 speaker led indicators...you are only receiving 2 channel input regardless of how many speakers you are hearing those 2 channels from! It is because of the decoder setting you have chosen is taking a 2 channel source and sendind it everywhere. Do yourself a favor...set 2500 input mode to auto...check dvd player settings...get a dvd...access dvd menu...choose a multi channel soundtrack via audio or language selection(5.1...dts...thx...etc)...press play...use movie general or movie spectacle setting...bam! bet you have a bunch of led's now. Neo6 is for use when you have a surround rear speaker. I've had my 2500 for about 2 months and still playing with it. If you are not happy with the ypao settings try this...do auto setup for all except equilization. this will set distance, level, wiring, etc. Then you can adjust tonal freq's to your liking. I hated the way the ypao made my Boston VR series sound(no jokes people, these spkrs kick arse!) I let the 2500 set all for me and the tuned it like you would an old fashion eq. Very pleased.

Pay attention to when you are seeing the led's. When I pause a movie I only get 2 leds on recvr. But then when I resume play I have all 6 leds diplaying(5 plus the lfe indicator). During the movie, I mean movie actually playing, you should have the mult spkr led's being displayed if it is in fact a multi channel track being played. Also, in menu you will only have 2 led's displayed. and sometimes in the extras that some dvd's have you are only going to have 2 spkr led's because those parts are not multi channel soundtracks.
