My 2400 has just begun to shut it self off, and not at very loud volumes. When I turn it back on, the message states, "check speaker wire", I checked the wires and the positives and negitives are a match, any thoughts would help.
Thanx

Whether the positives and negatives are a match would only cause a phasing problem, not cause the receiver to shut off. You may have a direct short in your speaker wire or speaker. This would be equivalent to just taking a piece of wire and connecting the positive to the negative. You could disconnect all of your speaker wire pairs at the receiver and then see if it shuts off. If it does, I would guess you have a problem with your receiver. If not, start connecting the pairs back one at a time until the problem comes back. This way you know which pair (speaker) is causing the problem. Keep in mind that it could still be the receiver at this point. It may have a problem when a certain channel is under a load. Then maybe try things like swapping (or replacing) the wire. You could take the run of wire to a speaker that worked Ok and hook it up to the speaker that caused the problem. Basically try and see if a run of wire or a certain speaker has a problem. I hope this helps. Good Luck!

Yes, it's pretty tight back there, and if you stripped a braided wired to connect, it's easy for a tendril to escape and short over. You might take a flashlight and look carefully before starting to disconnect, if you don't spot anything then dp's spot on.
