Yahama RX-V6A pre-out ports

I am new to AV.
Got my first Yahama RX-V6a
QUESTION: Are pre-out ports to be specially enabled ?

I hooked up a SonosAmp to the pre-outs and hear nothing.
I am using gold plated banana plugs with 16G speaker wire validated with volt-ohm meter.

Got a call into Yahama, but they may take a while to respond.

Hopefully you're not using speaker wires to connect the avr to your amp....generally pre-outs are live, did you run YPAO after connecting the pre-outs to your amp?
