Hi
I am no expert but the settings you refer to are not soundfields in the sense of Yamaha soundfields , but are the EQ settings for your room which were set using the supplied microphone.
Hope this helps

Hi Meridius,

Just select the one that sounds best to your ears. Truly. Quite simple. :)

In your Yamaha manual, they suggest you to experiment.
"Natural" could perhaps be good with Movies.
And "Flat" might be good with Music, maybe.
And "Front" could be more subtle perhaps, you have to listen and decide for yourself, nobody else can do it for you (after all, it's your own set of ears). :)
And "Through" is OFF, as, sounds best without any of these other Yamaha own EQ curves.

Cheers,

Bob

I updated for Firmware 1.08 and have had no issues since the upgrade. Did it over the Network it was very easy. Last upgrade I did was with a USB drive and it worked easily as well. I had no problems with the receiver before upgrading so I don't notice any difference. I have the Z7.

I currently set my speakers to Natural. I ran them at front but upgraded my surrounds so I can use Natural or Flat now.

If your Front speakers are a much higher quality than your surrounds then you want to run FRONT. Anything else will handicap your front speakers and bring them down to the level of your surrounds. If your speakers all around are of the same quality Natural or Flat should be used. Natural tames the highs more than Flat.

Flat or Natural for your speakers. Your Kef's are all in the same family so you should get good results. Yamaha recomends Flat, Natural is only if you think the highs are harsh.

I think I will experiment some with Flat and see if it changes my sound that much. I may get more detail with Flat.
