Y splitters? Will they reduce quality

So basically I am getting a T-amp with a red white RCA input and my sound card only has the main 'green' output.

Will using a Y splitter (3.5mm to 2x RCA) split the signal appropriately without reducing quality.

I guess what I am really interested in is will it just 'split the signal in half' (so you could send it to two different devices) or will it split in into its respective 'left and right' so the music plays appropriately?

Hi. If you get a stereo minijack to dual-RCA splitter (for example, like this cable shown below or this adapter shown below), then it will split it into the left and right signals. I've used them often. They come in various lengths and build quality.

Those are not audio 'splitters' really. Your single green connection is a stereo audio connection containing the left audio signal connection, the right audio signal connection, and a ground connection. The stereo 1/8" (3.5mm) mini connection to stereo RCA connection does not 'split' the signal connections as they are already independent wired connections. It does split the ground, which will have no impact at all on your audio quality.

So, not only is this fine, this is the proper and typical way to connect a stereo mini connector to RCA inputs. It is how you would connect your iPod or PC to any typical system with RCA inputs.
