If I can manage to pull money from somewhere money shouldn't be pulled, I may get another sub. I have been without a sub for year or so running the EMP's 'full range'.
When I had a sub, I used the sub cable out from the receiver to the sub with a Y adapter going to the L/R 'in' on the sub.

Are there any advantages, disadvantages to using a Y adapter? Is using the Y equivalent to bi amping?

There is no practical disadvantage to using a "Y" adaptor for running two subs from one line level output.

One could argue a theoretical disadvantage would be that the signal to each would be lowered a smidgen but the impedances involved make that a practical non-issue.

Okay. I would only be using one sub. With the Y going into the L/R 'in' of the sub.
