xvYcc colorspace question

Does anyone know if xvYcc color space will transmit through component video? I know its in the HDMI 1.3 spec, but I haven't heard anyone say a video signal in xvYcc would actually show up in xvYcc color rather than the sRGB spectrum.

The hardware would have to support it. The cables would have no problems transmitting it. Currently, xvYCC is HDMI-only when it is present at all.

So there is no trouble actually sending the colorspace through a component cable, just hardware? What causes existing hardware to not support it is another question then. Shouldn't the player just say "oy, analogue outputs? send everything then?"

It is usually b/c they can't control copying/ripping of the analog signal as tightly as they can control a digital signal (that whole DRM thing). So basically, from now on out, if it's higher resolution, hd anything, blah blah blah, ie. perceived to be "better" than before, you can guarantee they will try to make it digital so that they can control how you use the product.
