Dear experts
I just bought a home theatre and very much enjoying the experience. Sony Bravia 52", HK 247, Polk audio 5.1 speakers.

my question is: I attached component 1 from x box to TV directly and sound (optical 1) to the receiver. I am only getting 480 HD signal from the TV

how will I change this to 720 or 1080P
Thank you
Imad

I'm not sure about the original Xbox but if its a 360 you have to go to the dashboard and then system tab on the right. Then choose display and you should be able to change it to 720p or 1080p.

Edit: On some of the component cables from MS there is a switch for TV or HDTV, make sure that its in the HDTV position. Hopefully one of these will fix it for you.

if it's the original xbox, just go to the video settings in the dashboard and eneable 720p and 1080i. If it's a 360, do what mytzen said.

Thank you for your replies. I tried the system setting and changed the video output to 720p. by the way XBOX 360 does not go higher than 720P, unless the receiver will change it to HDMI 1080
thank you again

The 360 does 1080p if you have a tv with HDMI. No receiver needed. Even the old 360's with no HDMI will do 1080i. The highest you can get with the component cable is 1080i, all of which are selectable in the settings screen. (720p, 1080i, 1080p)
Mine is running at 1080i, soon to be running in glorious 1080p on the wonderous 65" Panny plasma, 800 series.:D
