XBMC Passed the Wife Test this Morning

Nancy was sitting on the couch this morning, drinking coffee, eating a pastry and in fairly agreeable mood. So... I asked, "Do you want to see what I've working on the past couple of weeks?"

So I took her iPad, installed XBMC Remote. I turned on the TV and Receiver (still deciding on the Harmony setup) and turned on the HTPC. 20 seconds later we have this beautiful panning and zooming menu. Nancy uttered, "Ooooooh... can I watch a movie?"

Very good sign. I asked her to look at her iPad to see if she could figure it out. She looked at the TV and saw Anna Kerina and said she didn't remember if she'd seen it. I said, look at the iPad and see what you can find. She went to Movies, picked the movie, and watched the trailer on her iPad within the XBMC app. She then clicked REMOTE, watched everything change on the TV and got the movie started.

I'm sitting there beaming! I was practically jumping up and down. I mean here we have this amazing interface, this beautiful eye-candy setup with all this cool stuff like trailers and bios. I asked, "So? Pretty f-ing awesome right?

"Uh huh... it was pretty easy. Can you get me another cup of coffee... I'm watching a movie."

Nancy and technology do not mix... at all. So this was the equivalent of one of us getting a brand new high end amp and holding it up in the glowing sunbeams like Simba in the Lion King. It's all I can ask for.

Yeah, eye candy for sure. Definitely makes people just want to watch movies.

My wife and everyone who has seen my XBMC is utterly enamored.
