I'm familair with Dirac (xmc1) and minidsp but I hadn't considered it for this application.
I have pretty specific case and I determined the d1 is just that about the only thing that checks all the boxes:
Good video switching
Good to great digital sound quality for stereo and 5.1
3+ component inputs and 2 comp outputs (or one comp out plus hdmi)
And ideally room correction
It's for a media room "man cave" at my cottage. I have an old standard def projector set up and a nice 5.1 speaker set and I took my DVD collection up there (member those things!). I want something that will take care of switching and will throw a nice picture on the big screen (yes it still makes a difference at 480p!) and good enough (digital) sound for serious stereo listening. I just picked up a vintage Parasound 5 channel amp so all I'm missing is the processor. Its becoming kind of a circa 2000 vintage dream team lol.
Ive used an Emotiva UMC1 in this set up, excellent sound quality but poor video quality and a bit awkward in use, and a Pio 1121 AVR, very user friendly and good video but sounds terrible for music. I think the D1 will be the best of both and then some. Now I just need to find one.
Wow that got long. Anyway, thanks for the suggestion!
