What kind of price do you want?

I am looking to sell my receiver at some point. I'm not satisfied with it's HDMI issues.

What model is it? HDMI is not a pressing feature for me. Oh, and the cost? Zero?:D

Sorry, I assume its in your signature?

lol it's the HK AVR 247

I'm really upset with it. I'm strongly considering upgrading soon back to my old receiver.

I bought it for 208 shipped and have used it for about 2 months.

What issues? Are they HDMI only?

I have a Sony STR-DE945 that I've been using in my living room for the last 7 years. Obviously, no HDMI, but it works great and is in perfect condition. I have the remote (LCD learning remote w/macros), manual and MAYBE the original box (would have to look in the attic).

I've been looking for an excuse to upgrade to an HDMI receiver, so I could let it go for $200 shipped if you're interested (paid $650 for it).

Here's a good description of it from a Craigslist ad (not mine) that I found.

http://santabarbara.craigslist.org/ele/1147597753.html

If interested shoot me an Email at spartanstew(at)gmail.com

PS. I have 100% positive feedback on Ebay.

Thanks for the offer but I can get a new 7.1 with HDMI for $300 shipped.

Looking on ebay that receiver is $50 tops.

If you're not interested that's fine, but don't make it sound like I was trying to rip you off.

The most recent sale of this receiver on Ebay was $200.

Looking at the other completed auctions yields the following:

Just the remote control - $80

One with the following: Volume nob is missing, noticable scratches/scuff marks on unit. Screen has crack in it. - $67.50

A refurb unit - $100

One with scratches and scuffs and comes without the remote or manual - $90 shipped.

And none of those units (except the $200 sale) come with the LCD screen learning remote that sells online for $120 by itself.

Of course, you can find newer receivers for $300. That's not what you were looking for and newer receivers in that price range generally aren't as good in terms of sound quality as an older unit. (cnet gave the receiver you linked to 2 out of 5 stars, BTW)

I didn't know what this receiver was worth and the two references I found were for $200 and $300 (Craigslist), so that's what I offered it at.

Again, if you thought the price was high you could have countered. If you just didn't want it, that's fine too, just say so.

But don't try and belittle my offer by saying it's available on Ebay for $50 tops, when 1) it's not true and 2) receivers close to that price are damaged and/or missing pieces.

There may be people willing to pay $200 for a 7 year old STR receiver. My post wasn't belittling. Fact is I can get a new HDMI receiver for $300 shipped. Fact is I have seen other same Sony receiver go for ~$90 shipped on eBay. You should have no problem getting a fair price on eBay.

$50 plus some shipping is all I would be willing to pay for a 7 year old STR series receiver from Sony. Now if it was an ES series...

Sorry that you took the post that way. I'll just ignore the moderator crack. Stop by in the HTPC forum though if you ever want to put together a great CD/DVD jukebox.

Jink does have a point buddy.

I got my HDMI receiver for 200 shipped from the factory. I personally find it unethical to sell it for 200 dollars knowing that fact. But hey to each his own.

Still Jink I suggest you look at a Panasonic HE100 I had one and it's a nice lil amp that goes for less than 100 on ebay. Unlike old my old sony it didn't hum with good quality speakers either.

The only thing quesionable ethically was suggesting that max price for that receiver on ebay is $50. That is clearly not true. Beyond that, why even comment about the offer? Guy offers $200. Take it; leave it; counter offer. No need for anything else.

While I know nothing about the Sony receiver in question, I think it is silly to assume that a cheap HDMI receiver is better or equal to an older model that pre-dated HDMI.

This thread is done since I have the Yamaha coming to me now anyways. I will ask another Moderator to close this thread.

Thanks Penpitt...

Penpitt shipped me his Yamaha at shipping and handling cost. I just wanted to shout out and thank you. He didn't ask for a penny beyond that.

My mother just got out of the hospital and is still pretty weak. I am setting her up with a nice starter 2.0 system that I will expand over time. She didn't want any thing extravagant.

To Penpitt, I have already forwarded on the favor, a friend of my wife will be benefiting from my 10" PSB sub that I am giving her.
