LMAO, I would love to read the response.
Maybe it will be such a good idea they will let the rich and mid-class pay for it for the poor. I've already read that a special tax {Like a 1/4% after $500} on A/V will go towards paying for the convert box for the poor when they switch over to digital. Well thats where it will start at least.

That sounds like Socialistic viewpoint to me. Making the successful pay for the laziness of others.

And that sounds like a communist thing to say. Not all people are poor because they're lazy.

.....and there's simply not enough rungs on the ladder for everyone to be able to climb, imo, sad as that may be.....

This has gotten way off topic buttt... All I want is the money I earned for working all week. Im tired of handing out about 60% of my yearly gross income in taxes (State, Fed, sales, Line Tax (phone bill), etc...) I dont want to throw old ladies and babies in the street but if helping out can't be done with the mass amount of taxes I already fork out then im starting to not care. Didnt we go to war with the Brits over 5%!!!!

Too funny, I sent this to a friend in my office and I thought she'd shake the walls down she was laughing so enthusiatically.

Is this thing for real.

Oh and I totally agree with what oscar had to say, that really was a poor choice of words.
But it would be hard to decide who is lazy and who may have had a streak of bad luck.
Me I have 1 felony over a dumb broad thing 5 years ago. And I am now screwed for life.
Granted I am now disabled, but I do know minimal wage will not pay for a Denon or Marantz av/r.
I by chance had a small settlement and opted to get a decent audio & video set-up. But without that settlement, I surely could not have afforded the little I have now.
Being on a fixed income. Does make me poor.......

Internet communications and knowing how to use a computer are a must these days. Thats why the public library is free to do this. You have full access other than porn. Makes sense that people are allowed a media that they can find jobs or housing.... A cell is almost a must have these days as well, and really should be considered a regular cost as well. Or a home phone, but if your at the library looking on the net at jobfinder.com, well it would be easier to be able for contacts to call.

Just another of my 2

Whoa whoa, by socialist I was lumping socialism/communism together as they are very close. OK, I should have used misfortune instead of lazy, my bad. I was half joking by making the post I made anyway. Lighten up guys. :)

However, in no way should I be forced to pay an additional tax on something just because I can afford it. I already paid taxes on my hard earned money. That is a way of trying to force everyone onto the same monetary playing field. i.e. socialism/communism

Please tell me how my statement was communistic by the way?

This is beating a dead horse, and needs no comment.
But I will say, I don't have aol, I don't have a blocbuster account. Being disabled I get food stamps (93.00 a month)

Well not wisely. But I can budget my bills every month with the measily 700.00 a month.
The only reason I spent stupidly on all the A/V equipment is because of the settlement for 2 years backpay. Go figure this one, I only got 10,000 for 2 years. Was in hospital for 6 months. (Actually some of the best 6 months of my life being on a morphine drip for 42 days straight)

And I figured I would never get another chance to have decent A/V equipment....

I'm more towards someone on welfare driving a better car then me. Kids wearing jordans. Parents wearing gold with a really nice dig camera. Then there kid gets on the free lunch program at school, get free uniforms. Everyone and the elem. school kid has a cell, rents 50 bucks of games each week. Those are the same ones we will be taxed for so they can watch tv.
