I am utterly shocked.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Tony Scott, director of such Hollywood hits as "Top Gun," ''Days of Thunder" and "Beverly Hills Cop II," died Sunday after jumping from a towering suspension bridge spanning Los Angeles harbor and leaving behind several notes to loved ones, authorities said.

The 68-year-old Scott's death was being investigated as a suicide, Los Angeles County Coroner's Lt. Joe Bale said.

Rip Tony...
Not huge fan of "Beverly Hills Cop II", but True Romance is one of most favorite movies

Yeah, I liked quite a few of his movies, but as with most directors, not all of them. Nobody has a perfect track record. It just seems quite surprising for a fairly big name. Will be curious to see if they put out any additional info on what was going on with him that would lead to something like this.

I read that he had inoperable brain cancer so I can only figure he decided to go out on his own terms.

Donna Scott allegedly told investigators that rumors of her husband’s cancer were totally false, a preliminary autopsy did not reveal the presence of cancer, TMZ reports. A full autopsy with toxicology results will not be completed for approximately four to eight weeks.

My favorite movies as a kid were Top Gun and Days of Thunder. Sad to see him go out like this. I guess I have some movies to watch. ;)
