We've heard of super-wide TVs, so you can watch Blu-ray movies without letterboxes, but a monitor? AOC's Q2963PM has a 21:9 aspect ratio and it's just 29" diagonal. What would you use this kind of monitor for?

Hi, Tom - just a note about a typo. The resolution is 2560 x 1080, not 2160 x 1080.

I've seen LG's 29" 21:9 on sale for a while now, but it's aspect ratio never really interested me...especially at it's price (currently $650). With 1920 x 1080 monitors in the sub-$200 range, prices will need to drop more before I start to look more seriously at 21:9 monitors versus dual monitors. At $500, this AOC is getting more into the ballpark.

EDIT: Talk about timing. Dell's 29" 21:9 Ultrasharp is on sale for $495 (ending today). Darn you, Tom. Now you've got me thinking about these... :D

If they are IPS panels, those are pretty good prices. If not, I'd pass.

I'd rather have a 30" 2560x1600 display in the end though :)
