Would you rather buy...

.....a used Technics SA-EX510 for $50 or a used Harmon Kardon HK3480 for $80.

Thanks in advance.

I would go with the HK simply because I don't trust Technics electronics (perhaps why their name disappeared from audio around 2000).
I have an integrated amp of theirs which never did a competent job of reproducing bass. It should have never made production. Cost about $280 in 1984.

But my experience is "a sample of one"!

Yeah, I would probly go HK too.

I also had an old Technics SA line that I got for free. Nothing really wrong with it, but not spectacular and the switches and sliders were pretty low quality. I now have the heatsinks, filter caps, and a few other parts that I scavenged out for projects, and trashed the rest of it.

Oddly, there is quite a following on the old Technics SA line. I came across a forum dedicated just to old Technics gear.

I ended up going with the HK, which was my gut pick. Thanks.
