I was recently in phoenix AZ. on business and spotted a thrift store that had some audio gear in the window. I quickly made a U turn and headed straight for the store. I was amazed at the pricing.....so much less than Goodwill.
Any how, They had a ton of stuff......nothing earth shaking...but still nice stuff. I spotted a Sansui 4000 in beautiful shape. I have a real weakness
for some of the older Sansui gear. The clerk said they had a pretty good Idea
that this was a "good Sterereooo" and they wanted four dollars and ninty five cents for it. Done!! Now, how do I get this thing back to PDX on a
plane. Simple. I buy the lime green suitcase for seven ninty five and stuff it with toilet tissue from my hotel room. The house keepers must have figured I
was damn sick because it took six rolls to do the job. The happy ending is that the 4000 made it back safely. Wooden case and all. The security people
from tsa could not wait to open up my 49 pound suitcase. Lime green with duct tape wrapped around it. "You from Hooterville or something?" I didn't know TSA was allowed to say things like that to good customers like myself.
Anyhow....the 4000 works great, sounds great, and I refinished the case.
Now the question...What is the purpose of the "level adjust" and "muting"
screws on the back side????? I appreciate someones help on this.
P.S. Last time I flew to Spokane I unknowingly left an 8" philips screwdriver
in my carry on. Didn't know I had it till I was getting resdy to fly back.
Hated to throw it in the dumpster. How the hell do you not see an 8"
screwdriver in someones carry on? Maybe it was because the 80 year old lady in front of me was getting "frisked" because her "Geritol" was more than
4 ounces. Great. Lock up grandma for Geritol but who cares about a harmless little 8" pointed screwdriver? Homeland, you give me the "willies!!"
