Would these be compatable or smart to use together?

I am building a mini system for my music room mostly to listen to music (trap, rap, hip-hop) and to watch TV. The setup I know a decent amount about the setup I am building, and it seems to fit my taste, and I am on a strict budget, just want to get a third party opinion, any changes I can make, maybe for performance or price, and a few questions answered before I purchase them.

Bookshelves: Pioneer SP-BS22-LR

Receiver: Yamaha RX-V377 5.1-Channel A/V home theatre receiver (didn't understand much about the channels, but I don't think I would need 5.1 channel. Are there any alternatives for a better price that I could use instead, because $200 just for the receiver in a basic system seems a bit much for me)

Powered Sub: 1 BIC America 12 inch

Once I have finalized what I want to build, what else do I need that isn't on this list? What do I need to do to get everything ready to go from let's say an aux cord to my phone?

Thanks ahead of time.

If you have an ipod/iphone, there is a connector on the front of this AVR where you can plug your iphone directly in with the cable that came w/ the phone.

If you have another brand phone, with bluetooth, you can get a YBA-11 wireless bluetooth audio receiver, and plug that into the receiver. Then wirelessly play music from your phone on your system. It also works w/ bluetooth on an iphone.

It is all described on the Yamaha website here:

If you can accept a factory refurb (still warrantied for 1 year).

It's pretty much exactly like the RX-V377 part of a model line that certain retailers carry to avoid price matching with competitors.

Saving a little there means you may be able to put more toward your speakers.

Have you looked at other options or had the opportunity to listen to other speakers rather than the Pioneers?

I know the Philharmonics get a lot of recommendations on a tighter budget.

I'm not sure which model your subwoofer choice is and how much it costs, but you might want to consider Dayton Audio's 10" powered subwoofer to help shave the cost down a little more, but the 12" doesn't set you back much more.
