Hey guys,

I'm looking for bookshelf speakers to use with my tube amp in my room computer setup. I want ones in my price range with a really good soundstage and imaging as well as detail... being able to pick out little things in music you might not have heard before. I will add a sub later on most likely. My price range is hopefully 300-400.

I am really trying to decide between:
Usher s520
Klipsch rb51

what are your opinions?? thank you!!

Your two candidates have completely different sounds. I've owned the S-520 and it's a good speaker. The gotcha is that if you feed it too much power without a subwoofer you can bottom the woofer so be gentle with them until you have a sub.

I didn't look at the specs but Klipsch are usually super easy to drive. The gotcha with them is for most people Klipsch are a love'em or hate'em thing.

If you already had a sub I'd point you at the EMP E41 but they need a sub to carry everything below 100hz.

When you say two completly different sounds... what's the difference? You owned the s520's.. how was the imagining/soundstage/detail of them?

and yeah the emp e41 were actually my third choice! I just liked the looks of the other two more. Why would you go with the e41's. I have a sub I could use it is not that great but would work until i upgraded

Make an offer on these. You will not be sorry. Don't forget to pick a color. Retail on these little gems were $899. Sale price @ Yawa is $699.

Those look very nice, but they are quite inefficient at 85db/w, and low impedance. They seem to be begging for quality ss power. Depending on which tube amp Jake is using, perhaps one of the more sensitive offerings would be better? Although, for an office system, it may not matter, and the lack of loudness could be compensated by increased quality. (The Quarts I heard -years ago, not those in the link- imaged beautifully, and did the 'disappearing act' quite well. Squeaky clean studio monitor type sound, perhaps a little edgier than the M&K's I'm accustomed to, but clean and neutral.)

my dad is an optometrist and owns his practice with his friend. his friend actually builds tube amps and we have a few of them. They don't have to get super loud and I've tried speakers that were inefficient before and they got loud enough for me. I just want a comfortable listening level and at times louder. those speakers do look nice but a little expenisve :/

I promise you they are of the finest you will hear. I would compare them to B&W 805S, at a fraction of the cost.

The MB Quart I linked are made by the original MB Quart company. They are Handmade in Germany. Not the typical Chinese made junk of many speakers at this price today. As I stated, they retail for $899. B&W 805S retail for over 2k. This is truly an opportunity to get your hands on some of the finest speakers ever made(for the money).

By the way, I use four MB Quart QLS 830, and one QLS 330. Truly amazing build quality, and sound quality. Quart titanium tweeters are some of the highest regarded tweeters in audio.

They are listed for $599 on ebay, but have the "make an offer" tab. United Online is the seller on ebay, and they also have a website. They are listed for $799 there.

As I mentioned, Yawa has them as well. I purchased mine from Yawa.

I think you are in the wrong neighborhood mentioning tube amps. You are likely to get crucified.
