Would I gain anything buying newer AVR gear.

I am using on older Onkyo 805 receiver for all my HT needs. Now I only run Right, Left, center and sub. Would I gain anything in quality or sound processing buy going with a new 2015 AVR?

I don't really think SQ has improved significantly since you bought your receiver but they've added new features. Look at some of the newer units and figure out what features you simply can't live without.

The Audyssey DynamicEQ made a huge difference for me. If you can audition someone's setup with and without it engaged, might be worth looking into.

While Dynamic EQ is tempting, I gonna use my 805 till it gives up on me, which I hope won't be soon.
Probably sub and speakers would be next on my upgrade list

I'm still rocking my Pio Elite 82vsx, going on about 8 years old now.

New AVRs don't have much to offer for me. Wireless and networking, but there are other ways around that.

I do wish that I had an HDMI connection on the front, but it isn't worth upgrading just for that.

Well, as we're all coming clean with out antiquated stuff, I'm still rocking my trusty Denon 2802. FYI, they number their receivers where the first two digits represent its hierarchy and the last two the year of release.

My buddy uses the old Yammy Natural Sound that I retired when I bought my Pio.

No HDMI and no modern codecs, but it works fine for him and his needs. Sometimes, I regret selling him that Yammy for $40 (obviously a friend price).

My Marantz is about seven years old. It still meets my needs for a 5.1 system. I do have a second HDMI cable going to the TV for 3D but I've only watched 3D movies 2 or 3 times.

I might consider adding speakers and upgrading for one of the newer surround formats but it will be a few years for that to get sorted so I'm in no hurry. I would like better EQ but my system sounds pretty good now.
