would external amp effect auto setup?

Hey guys,
I take delivery of my Harman Kardon avr 635 tomorrow. I am seriously considering picking up a two channel amp in the near future for my front towers. Would adding an external amp cause the auto setup feature with the mic to not work correctly? Would I need to set everything manually or could I just run the auto set up without the amp tomorrow and then in the future, connect the amp and manually adjust the gain on the external amp itself? Lastly, anyone have any opinions on Gemsound amps? They are really affordable but are they any good? I'm looking at these two:

My front speakers are rated up to 250 watts a piece and it is my understanding that I would want an amp that delivers more than that. Anyone have any suggestions on which of these two would be better? Thanks

i believe you would just re-run the autosetup after you've connected the external amps.

also, be sure the amps you buy have the correct kind of input connectors on the back for hooking your receiver's preout to the amp.

what would the different types of connectors be? I thought it was just an rca cable from the line out on the receiver's pre-out to the line in on the amp. If there's anything else to look for please let me know. I don't wanna make a mistake :)

.....BigBassDave, I wouldn't touch ANY amp without specs more than what the links supplied....no specs besides power and the attracting little gauges makes me suspect....can you find links that go deeper into the specs of these two amps?.....

.....edit....I do like the weight of the amps, though.....

yes, RCA cables for connecting receiver to amp. i guess i was trying to suggest that you be sure what kind of connectors that amp uses on the back. for example, if your receiver only has RCA preouts, but the amp doesn't use that kind.....

All the specs: THD, frequency response, input impedance, etc.

How much does it cost?
You may also want to consider the Behringer A500 discussed on this page someplace. You can bridge it, one for each channel, costs $180 ea.

big bass dave, what gcmarshall was saying is that amps of this type usually uses XLR input or the 1/4" connector (same as the ones on microphones)

the a500 on the other hand has rca inputs

.....TDeluce, I believe for the price the Behringer A500 would do a good job....some have reported on the unit here and like it a lot.....

.....like Mtry said, Dave, but I'll add signal-noise-ratio, +/- db top-to-bottom, and damping factor.......

xlr, rca, 1/4

no matter what kind of cable's you need weather they be xlr or rca dont get too worried about all that stuff, any decent guitar shop(guitar center) carry's xlr to rca & rca to 1/4 plus all kind's of variation's of all the different cable's & 99% of the time you can get good brand's like peavy for less than a set of radio shack or monster wire's.

The 2950 goes for about $150 and the 3950 can be found for $170. Sounds like great prices to me. Other than that I have not been able to find additional specs
