Hello, this is the first post that i have made, and usually i can figure these things out on my own but i thought that i would ask the guys and gals what they thought. Basically I work for magnolia home theater and i get the upgrade bug whenever we get new things in.

my latest infatuation has been replacing my JBL E80, EC35, N24, and 2 KSW-12s in place of some def techs. i was basically looking to get the studio cinema 450 package. this includes Studiomonitor 450, CLR 2000, BP1x, and supercube 1 or 2.

now here is the fun part. my room is 10x12 and everything is powered by a pioneer 1015. the jbls sound fine but with my employee discount its almost worth the upgrade just for that. also i may sub out the studiomonitors for the powermonitor 700.

i want to thank everyone in advance, and thank you all for those late night reading sessions.

thanks again

yeah and they sound real nice, but im not sure that they are that much better, but they would fit my room better, and they do sound crisp.

my big question is that i know that they are a better speaker and i know that they would sound better, but im not sure that it is worth the thousand bucks. i might just pick them up just to change it up.

Have you auditioned any other speakers out there? There are so many brands in your price range that it would be worth your while to see what you like. A small list:

B&W
Paradigm
PSB
Axiom
Rocket
Klipsch
Phase Technology
Athena

the thing is that at magnolia we only sell def tech, logan, vienna, and boston. with my discount everything is basically 50% off. so that would take out some of the other brands.

thanks again

The MSRP of the 450 system is about 2700 with kind of cash I would recommend the M&K 850 system with either a MX 150 sub or a SuperCube 1. I like Deftech for their SuperCube subs but I don't like the fact that they use D'apolito speaker array. The woofer-tweeter-woofer array is prone to have serious lobbing issues which will hinder off axis response.

The M&K 850 is also available in real wood veneers, if you should so desire for the same price as the black painted model.

M&K speakers are very neutral with no real curves built in.

the studiomonitors dont use the d'apolito speaker array. they have the 1" tweeter and then the 6.5" mid and the passive sub.

one other thing that i did mention is that i will listen to no music on these speakers. only ht. with that in mind what is everyone thinking. the whole package will cost me about about 1200 out the door.

thanks again
