Ok guys Im thinkin of upgrading to full seprates but Im gonna do it a lil at a time by getting an amp and using my reciever as a pre amp for now. I was wondering what people think. Im looking for at least 125 watts and a posibly a 7 channel. Id like to be all the way up to 200 a channel and as far as being a 7 channel thats not a huge concern as long as the company makes a 5 channel and also a 2 that have the same specs bacause Ive noticed that some higher end companys do it that way. Any Ideas are as always apreciated.

Thanks,
Sean

Just wondering. Anything wrong with what you have that you are going separates? What do you expect in return from separates?

Well there isnt any thing that I dont like about my reciever. Im actually really happy with it and still think it was the best choice I could have made but theres more things that I want it to do. I want to be able to do S-Video and composite to componet up conversion, I want more optical inputs, more power, more componet inputs. Basicly nothing major just little things when I bout the reciever it was the best I could afford and is still holding me over but Im running out of inputs so I figured Id start to upgrade and wanted to go with seprates cause Ive always heard that they dont even compare in sound quality and perfromance to recievers. I realize that recievers have come a long way and that thats probably not true anymore but I still want them :) . But thanks for the input I looked and I liked the Outlaw audio its basicly exactly what I was looking for but I was disapointed to see not XLR inputs. I wonder why that is? Hmmm oh well.

Thanks again,
Sean

While their web page is crap, from many many people I've heard that these give a great deal of bang for the buck. I'd do a search on the web to see what you find. Also ignore their listed price, I'd suggest you do a search for their authorized dealers - you can get these for about 65% or possibly better of MSRP

And you are sooo correct in going with seperates - Even on $4K receivers, I hear much better sound from seperates totally that amount. The only issue is space.

As much as the AH staff liked the new Emotiva amp, you might want to wait for their new 125 X 6 version. It's only going to cost $599 and looks pretty good. You can get the details here.

YEah I just saw that review and I liked it to. I actually looked at that company a few months ago but I was more just poking around at that point and didnt look in to it. THe one they reviewd is exactly waht I was looking for and the price isnt to bad. I like the outlaw audio but I was upset that it didn have XLR inputs but thats not a problem with the emotiva amp.
