Is it just me, or do most women have a hard time figuring out remotes. I even bought a Harmony remote and I still get calls. "I can't get the TV to work.....how do I get the music to play outside....which remote was it again to control the stereo?". I've talked to friends and they say the same thing.
Or is it that they are smarter than men, and can get us to do things for them by claiming ignorance....hmmmmmmmmmmm.

I think the problem is that when we get involved with our gear, we know way more about it then 99% of the population cares about. A lot of men like electronics and figuring this stuff out, but women want a button that says DVD, or TV and they want it to actually work.

If your remote doesn't have a button that specifically says TV or DVD or requires more than pressing ONE button to turn it on and have it setup correctly, then that is more than most people will remember.

It is also why I have a job.

You think women can't remember how to use a remote... you can't imagine how much worse CEOs are at working one.

Heck, even I have problems with my remotes.

too many teeny tiny little buttons for those kielbasa fingers of mine. Add the dim lighting to it and it can produce some interesting effects. Actually, if my wife gets hold of the TV remote she can hold her own with any male channel surfer out there.

Now, what I want to know is why they don't put little pieze beepers so you can push a button on the unit so you can fined the danfg things. I mean, my $20 wireless phones have it. Why not a receiver that costs several hundred dollars.

Hummm???

That's funny. In most of the installs I have done the wifes seem to get the remote down faster then the men (at least with touch screens, ie..pronto) However, it seems that it is more the CEO type that has the hardest time, esp. the older CEO types.

Maybe it isn't a gender thing. I should do a test next time we have a "concert evening" with friends. Just put out as many remotes as I can find and see who can get my system to work first.

I found this the case as well, but sometimes it's how bass-ackwards the installer was.

In the case of my mom's boyfriend's system, he decided to get all backwards, and made it so you need THREE REMOTES to change sources. Bad part is my mom is not very technology inclined (she jsut wants things to work and be intuitive), and he likes to play with anything electronic in a 50000000ft radius, and usually ends with my cursing him out when he's in my apartment for messing up my receiver settings again.

Needless to say I bought my mom a single learning remote and programmed it for her, then opened it up and removed the segment of circuitboard that the program button resided on, so he can't even attempt to re-program it (he has a bad habit of this, I had to pimpsmack him for trying to mess with the delay settings on my receiver last time he was over).

Needless to say, her remote works far better....now the only problem is he keeps walking off with it and losing it in the house....so next time I visit, I'm installing a remote finder on it.

Nothing to you direct :D But as an example: my dad who is up there in years (late 50's early 60's) still has a hard time using an 8-1 remote to just switch from DVD to SAT, imagine trying to trouble shoot over the phone from several 100 miles away, to your dad, of how to get the SAT image on the TV, and not having a clue of what he did...not an easy task. :D
