Wizard of Oz on BD

I have not bought the box set yet, but the couple of reviews that I've read have been raving. The PQ is supposed to be stellar- "Oz has never looked so beautiful on screen" as one reviewer said. As for the AQ, they added a TrueHD surround track that still relies mainly on the fronts (as any classic movie should), but uses the rears for ambiance and some of the music.

Given that this is one of the first movies I remember watching when I was very little, it is going to be very interesting to see how much it has changed in HD picture and sound.

Watched this the other night. Amazing what they did with the PQ and SQ of the movie.

Yeah, the review I heard said it was a great remaster and the clip I saw sure did look amazing. I don't know that I want to pay that much for it though.

Apparently you don't have to buy the big fancy box set if you're not into that sort of thing (like myself). Target has an exclusive on the movie in a more standard one disc blu-ray offering.

Yes, Target has it, but it is $38, which is only about $12 less than the full set. The full set includes at least one bonus disc that people were talking about. When the Lion Roars? Something like that. I searched and it says some documentary about MGM.

There is a discount coupon available as well where you can get it for $42 (20% off) at the WB Store, then add a second disc at any price and get free shipping.

I bought the three disc set from Taggitt I got there at 7:30 am and made my purchase a few minutes after 8:00am and I am glad I got there early as they only had the one , they were supposed to stock four, wow a whole four last night but they seem to be missing three of them, ,
I would have bought two so as I could supply a fellow forum member that may not get the chance to be out there shopping but no luck.I did score a few copies of Gremlins in case any one needs one, just send a pm.
