With Spring comes the White Van Speakers

Just had a visit from a next door neighbor who brought a couple of "White Van Guys" to my driveway to check out a set of "$4000" speakers that they were letting go for only $200. I took one look and told my neighbor to run, don't walk away from this deal. Boy, those guys got ticked!
I forgot to get their license number, but I'm unsure whether the police bunco squad would be interested, anyway.:D

you should have invited them all in to listen to your setup. they would have left with their tails between their legs, and you'd be an audio god to your neighbor. :D

Yeah, sure, let a couple of crooks in your place to case out - I mean check out - your gear... lol.
:p

at least the next person they unloaded the gear on would get some decent speakers. :D

Gotta love those white van fools! :p

My cousin purchased a pair of "white van" speakers. I believe the brand name is Denmark. Anyway, those are horrible sounding! I know, it's shocking isn't it?! :D

I still love those "digital" speakers.....

.."uhh....guys, where the hell is my TOSlink or coax input, and where is the DSP and amp on these, after all tehy are "digital", right?"

...'wtfbbq?'

..."yeahhhhh......" :p

I've seen plenty of these things being hawked on Ebay as well. So many of them are ripoffs of the Acoustic Research brand. Why beats me.

Yeah "Denmark" is a famous white van "brand". Do a search on Google and you'll find lots of white van references! hehe

Edit: LMAO!!! Check out the cheap box printing and user's manual. But it's go the "Butter worth tuning".

When I used to live in San Diego I always got approached by the white van. It was always at Longs drugs or Home Depot. Same sales pitch everytime.

"Hey dude, you wanna buy some killer speakers? A client I was doing an install for just cancelled an order and I can let these go for cheap. They retail for $1200."

What??? I'm from San Diego and I never got approached by any of these people. I would've just loved to mess with them though! I'd act all interested, THEN reveal what I know about their operation! :D :D :D

I was approached a couple of years ago. Same basic story, too many ordered for a job and so my boss is allowing me to sell them for what I can get. They tried to claim they were worth $2k.

Did not bite then now I would have some fun with them if I had the time.

If your boss spent anywhere near $2K on them or even $1K, why the hell would he let you sell them for $200 MORONS? They ought to rethink their story a little. When they hit me up, they said "Our shipment from the factory was over by a few pairs but the paperwork was correct, so we're just unloading them...." I thought to myself, that's a good way to get fired... But I looked at them. This was during my DIY phase where I was doing a lot of research on drivers and x-over components, cabinet construction, etc.... so I could see right away that these were crap and I laughed and walked away.
