I have a sub that has a 400 watt amp on it ,My reciever is only 100 WPC. My question is would it be better to run fronts off the sub or reciever? Also if connected to sub would the speakers get more power from sub or does it get the power from the reciever (100) WPC? Dont understand how that works thanks For any help

Usually the sub amp's 400 watts only drives the sub. The fronts should be connected to the receiver.

Leave the surround speakers connected to the 100 watt amp.
Hook the sub to the 'Sub Out' connector on the amp.
The sub has it's own separate amp; it needs it to move that big driver at low frequencies.
All the sound levels will become equalized when you use the speaker level setup, or an SPL meter.

Boy, do I type slow...I was the first reply, when I started:D
