Wiring mystery (LIN, HIN) - Sonance Cinema Ultra II

My electronics and wiring experience is at the Advanced Level, but.......

A sub-contractor friend of mine was allowed to take three of these in-wall babies home from an upgrade job. Specs here:

Cinema Ultra II LCR at sonance.com, legacy products

I just spent the last hour trying to find information on the web on these mysteriously-labelled connectors on the back. And no help from the manuf's website.

There are 4 screw-down posts for the wiring. 2 say + and - and "HIN" between them.
The other 2 say + and - and "LIN".

What does HIN and LIN mean?

Thanks in advance, if you know!

Welcome to the forum, Craig!

Hopefully someone with experience will answer you, but I'll throw my thoughts in...if only to bump your thread and welcome you. :)

My guess is that HIN is for high-frequency input, and LIN is for low-frequency input, and that the two sets of binding posts allow you to biamp the speakers. Is there a wire or metal bar connecting the two "+" terminals, and another one connecting the two "-" terminals?

Just like you, I checked the manufacturer's website. The owner's manual doesn't give information about the speaker terminals, so I didn't even see a diagram of them. The manual does give a technical support phone number to call, though, so maybe try that number if you don't find the answer.

Thanks. I was guessing that too. I'll have to take a look at them closer to see if they are connected.

Otherwise, I'll just have to try either pair of posts hooked up to the amp.
