I am currently working on a HT install and i have most of my speaker wires running in the walls going to wall plates.

Should i attach the wires in the wall to the binding posts on the wall plates via banana clips or bare wire? The bananas i have, have the rubber cover that i'd assume helps prevent the copper wires from oxidizing quickly? Let me know as i will need to buy a lot more bananas if i need them in the wall :).

The best possible connection is just bare wire because it adds nothing to the mix. If you go with banana plugs make sure you have good solid connections and it won't be a problem. It really comes down to personal preference but if you do something besides bare wire just make sure you do a good job.

I have speaker wire ran to solder type binding posts in wall plate and then solder style banana jacks on both wall and speak ends. You are assured a good connection at that point.

Solder gets you a solid connection, but adds nothing audio wise. I have actually heard some say that the tin can have an audible effect, but I have never heard it myself. I used to solder all my connections too but have since found that using good banana plugs has pretty much the same results.

Consider using a good quality wall plate that has screw terminals on the back. The terminals will generally accomodate up to 12 AWG speaker cable and are quick and easy to install without the need for solder.

Use either banana plugs to connect the speakers to the front or bare wire. If bare wire make sure that you snip any errant strands.

I have a lot of success with these banana jacks and binding posts. The banana plugs linked below are my favorite termination solution as you can just tuck bare speaker wire into them.
