Wireless audio/video transmission?

Is there any reasonably priced solutions for transmitting video and 5.1 audio wireless? I see there are some solutions available but they cost hundreds.. Looking for something around 100 if there is any available for such price? This would be set between desktop / laptop computer and Denon AVR-1311.

I don't see how these wireless apps would help with the connectivity as the receiver don't have wireless itself. Point is to get full HD video and surround sound from PC/Laptop to receiver wireless.

Like I already mentioned, the AVR does not have WiFi nor Bluetooth. So using an app won't help as it cannot connect to said AVR.

Ok, haven't read carefully, sorry. Then, maybe purchase a media streamer with wireless support, for instance, WDTV, Patriot Box office (the price is $100 or so). The best solution rather than smashing with network adapters or docks.

if you happen to have intel hd laptop with wireless display the belkin screencast for wireless display is $40 at amazon.

if no then the other solution cost around $200 and more
dvdo, belkin, iogear, edup, with iogear being cheaper i think.

oh yes lots of people complain about range, so remember to check them at manufacture website. some manufacture claim 200m range like hdbitt(not typo)

Don't have WiDi in the laptop.. How ever after I read this I was looking for some solutions and I believe Google Chromecast can do this? And it only reguires WiFi? What I read about Chromecast it works with phones, laptops and even desktop pc's with full hd video and 5.1 sound? Do you know if this is correct?

actually chromecast works but... it is experimental...

1. Download Chrome and the Chromecast app
2. Install Chrome and its Chromecast casting extension.
3. Open Chrome and select the “Cast” option from your Chromecast extension.
4. Where you see “Cast this tab to…” on the right will be a small down arrow, click it and select “Cast entire screen (experimental)”.
5. Once done, your entire computer desktop should be streaming to your TV.

problem is 5.1 is not for all system, sometimes you have to plug the chromecast receiver to tv and digital out to your amp, this doesn't always works because your tv might be old and only support 2.0 instead of 5.1, if it works you can straight plug to receiver.

summary, chromecast can be very picky on tv or av receiver.

i totally forgot about 2 things,

tv like to downmix audio, like from dts hd mstr to something else

the wifi part, as chromecast version 2 support wifi ac which in theory could support 1.3Gbps speed, in practice you would only get 433mbps max, and hdmi speed is 3.4Gbps, it is only natural to think that we have some signal loss? means quality loss?

As I googled you can use it directly with AVR HDMI port as well so you wont have issues with TV only supporting 2.0.. And when you think about full hd video stream from internet, that is only like 10mbps to deliver the video without loss.. so I suppose 433mbps should be more than enough.

Hmm.. If it doesn't work I suppose you can always return it. As for WiFi bandwidth I think there won't be going so much that it would interfere with the stream.. Not many options for this price range so I suppose it is worth a try, and it only costs 50€.

Are you trying to send videos from your computer to the AVR from stored files, or by going to websites and sending the video? I haven't had any luck with the latter using a Chromecast, but stored files worked fine. Roku and AppleTV can do this, with some apps like Plex, AllPlay, PlayTo, etc.

ehmm, if you can change the computer i wouldn't suggest roku, i would suggest intel nuc or even intel computestick.

Intel stick goes for 150 and not in plans to replace computer either.
