Wire Management - Do it Like an Audioholics Pro

Just thought I'd share this picture with everyone so you can see how Gene recommends we all do wire management...

Pay attention as this may take some time to master. It's an extremely intricate system, but I hear it produces exceptional results....

lol, I couldn't resist posting this

Ha!

My wires are WAY neater. Twist ties and lap traps. All of my power cables run under my receiver and pop right out into a power bar.

There's really not that many cables there, it's just that they are a bit long. But that is a funny pic. That could be the poster child for HDMI. ;)

:) Some of the racks in my server room here have 40 1U servers each of which has a minimum of 2 power, 2 network cat5/6, 1 relo cat 5, 1 console cat5 - that's 240 cables that have to be routed - I think Gene's rack looks quite neat in comparison. ;)

You got that right. I messed up when I ordered my cables from Bluejeans and overcalculated their lengths so I could have plenty of slack when the rack pulls out. I was too lazy to send it all back and reorder so I used it as is.

Also I wasn't aware until last EHX that Middle Atlantic offers a wire management system that goes between the two moment arms of the rack thus I tied down all of my cables to the arms instead.

Could I make this neater, sure. Do I want to disconnect everything to do it, NO WAY! All of my cables are Belden 1694 which are everything but HEMP hardended :)

Perhaps when its time to upgrade components again, I will redo my wire management, but for now I am loving having my primary theater up and running again!

Man, for a split second I thought someone had posted a picture of the back of my rack!

Then I realized that mine didn't look nearly that nice...

Pictures like this make me think we need an official "Audioholics Best Caption" contest. Take that picture and get a board sponsor to offer a prize for the person who comes up with the best caption.

"Crap, I've ziptied my arm to the rack"
"This is what happens when you mix up meters and feet on your cable order"

We got pushed from a four-bedroom house into a one-bedroom apartment by Katrina... you don't even want to see the mare's nest of wires I have in the living area... and that's just the stuff we rescued, lol.

Fortunately we are soon moving to more spacious quarters, but every time maintenance came in to fix the AC or something I was afraid they were going to boot us out for creating some kind of safety hazard.

After I hooked up the first two DVRs I just gave up on cable management. :D

I guess you guys would want to choke me for only having two stereo interconnect pairs, and a component video cable in my wiring scheme :p

It used to be one stereo pair, one component, a coax digital, and a subwoofer cable.

Oh, and now it's two speaker cables, used to be five....either way, it was easy to run.

heres some serious wire management :)

500 miles of cable.... Skywalker ranch SSL 5k..

Man, that's a lot of skin effect and cable distortion they must deal with. It's cool, though cause they have these stones they put on the mixing console that clears everything up...

I heard that they actually treat each cable with C37 lacquer :)

Also if you look closely you will see that they use cable "stands" to elevate the cables off the ground thus reducing the magnetic disturbances created through low frequency vibration transfered through the floor.

Don't knock it:D Better than being short and unplugging every time to move something or, just plain short and must be spliced or replaced:D
