I am new here and I am a novice in the audio world. I have set up a surround sound system of speakers through my Marantz amp. I have my cable box connected to the amp via a HDMI cable as well as my PS3. The sound is great and to my knowledge is working fine. However I have a Vizio television that I can stream movies via the internet connection the Vizio is able to make with my router. My problem is how do I then get the sound from my tv that is streaming a movie to the amp and enjoy that same great sound. I have an optical and an RCA audio out on the back of the tv. Any help or advice would be appreciated thanks in advance.

Hi tdooley45 and welcome to the forum.

You pretty much have it down. You would take the optical connection out of the TV to an optical input on your receiver.

Then turn on the digital out in the TV setup and assign the optical input on the Receiver the input you want to use (ie TV).

Then when you are playing the streaming source, set your receiver to the TV source input and you should be fine.
