ok.. ive read the FAQ on this subject but still not sure ...

will these 2 work together or will one have to be replaced?

my dad got both for xmas but being an engineer reads and studies manuals way to closely..
his concern is will the 4ohm rated speakers not work or damage the 6/8ohm rated receiver?

It's become harder and harder to find a receiver that's rated to run a 4 ohm load these days. Technically, you can run an 8/6 ohm rated receiver into a 4 ohm load as long as you don't run full power.

If you do try to run that Pioneer at full power into 4 ohms, it doesn't have the current capacity to handle the demand and you will quite likely kill the receiver.
