Ok so I bought these: http://www.sinclairaudio.com/products/brighton_sb2600t.html and I am really really really happy with them. Amazing speakers. Now, the dealer that I bought them from is a really good guy, and he likes to work with you regarding prices. NOW, as you can see, those speakers are the sinclair "Brighton" lineup. I want to replace my Polk Audio center with a sinclair center so as to match the whole front, then I will move on to the rears and match them eventually. The dealer has the discontinued http://www.sinclairaudio.com/products/classics_sa500c.html in stock for a really good price. Now, the question I am posing is "will these match the sound of my towers"? If you take a look at the towers they have a Phase Plug in the center, while the center speaker does not, and the whole woofer matieral is different. He can get a hold of the Brighton center, but will not be able to offer me the discount he can on this one. Keep in mind, im on a student's budget and I need to keep costs down. Should I go for it?

Another thing that I saw was the http://www.sinclairaudio.com/products/brighton_sb140s.html in the brighton lineup, and it has the same woofer construction as the classic models, maybe implying that they sound similar. I dunno, this may be a long shot, but I thought I'd ask anyways.

If you can fit that sb140 in the center, that would be my choice. I have been reading not so favorable technical comments on horizontally arranged speakers.

your suggesting to not put a center speaker in the center and rather use a bookshelf? that seems a bit odd to me. in any case I still want to use a real center speaker, i just need help choosing between the two, the older and the new ones

Its very hard to explain why MTM driver designs are not that great, so I'll leave it here for WmAx. :D
