While reading the specs on the new XBox360, and the promises of gameplay in 1080i, I can't help but remember back to the same promises made with the original XBox.
Sure the unit is CAPABLE of 1080i, but to keep games > 30fps, game developers were limited to 480p being the maximum playable resolution, with a few titles supporting 720p, and even less actually supporting 1080i (Atari Classics is the only one I know of).
Now, I'm confident that the next generation XBox will be able to deliver great gameplay in 720p, but is 1080i a bit beyond the next gen hardware?
I'm concerned because my display (as with some of yours, I'm sure) only supports 480i, 480p and 1080i (Mitsu 56"). If the XBox isnt able to scale 720p images up to 1080i, will I be stuck playing next gen games in 480p? The thought of this is really a let down.
I'm curious as to your thoughts and solutions to this problem.
Personally, I think purchasing a
DVDO iScan HD+ , or even the next generation
DVDO iScan VP30 would solve this problem and give me great benefit in the long run.
Thoughts?
