I just got a new Samsung Series 6 61" DLP set as a replacement for a set that failed under Best Buy extended warranty. I am pleased with the set overall, but as a lot of people I am wrestling with center channel placement. I used an Omni Mount shelf (the one that has two small posts that overlap the bezel and two "legs" that push down on the back of the TV) on top of my previous TV. The problem is that the Bezel on this one is lower in profile and more flexible than the one it is replacing and the plastic on the back of this TV is less rigid than my previous one. It will actually bow when put under pressure. Does anyone have experience using this shelf in conjunction with the series 6/7 sets? Do you think that it will support an 18 lb center channel long term without damage?
I have considered the option of putting the center on the top of the component cabinet in front of the TV. Ths presents two issues. The first is that it blocks the IR for the remote. The second it that the center blocks about 1/2-3/4" of the bottom of the TV.
Thoughts and alternatives appreciated.
Thanks,
Mike
