My lower end, older,Denon 1905 handles my Axiom M80's
with no problem. Even at very loud volumes.
So I would not worry about your newer model.

Denon is usually reliable with its specs. However how hard you drive your speakers is less important than how sensitive or efficient they are. The axiom are a good example? They are rated at 4 ohm but measure @ 95db's @1w/metre in room and a different speaker rated at 86db's will require more power thus putting more strain on your receiver.

I see you started another thread:). However in answering this question I would move up to the 2808 in place of the 2308? As was pointed out by Mike in the other thread having pre outs gives you flexibility for expanding later. The one trademark with Denon is they have excellent pre/amp sections and IMO you will enjoy if you go that route!:)
