Will components still work?

Hi,
I am still researching receivers to replace my pro logic yamaha. I think I like the Pioneer 1014 or 1015, as well as the Yamaha 1500. The issue I am struggling with is the HDMI switching thing. How important is it?
I have been reading up on it as well as on DVI with HDCP. I am concerned about the implications of HDCP.
I am comfortable with the quality of the picture associated with component cables, so that is not an issue. The concern I have is when HDCP becomes wide spread. Will component cables still work to transfer digital cable and other HDCP protected media?
Thanks,
Pat

Component cables will not transmit HDCP but I don't think that's a problem with content that's available now. This could be an issue with HD or BD DVD if they do not output a component signal as rumored to be the case.

At this point in time receivers that switch HDMI are expensive. Within the next year or two you will see more mid range receivers with this option.

Thanks. My thought is to wait, as I am concerned with new video technology as you describe not being compatible. I realize component cables will not transmit digital signals, but do you think new cable boxes and DVD players offer this option?
What I am asking is do you think that the proponents of HDCP and the like intend to intentionally make all receivers without these connectors obsolete in the future by not allowing the data to pass through old receivers with only component inputs? Maybe I am confusing myself or not explaining myself correctly
