While av system has been "stimulating" to give user a better experience, from a "lower grade source".

Will this continue in 7.1 dobly atmos? That is, "stimulating" from a lower grade 5.1 source.

My setup are

1. Source is 5.1 from netflix, coming out of samsung smart tv, should be able via hdmi arc. If not, the tv has optical output port. Tv is reasonably new and main stream model, brought 6 months ago. It is samsung os, not android inside

2. I am chossing to buy the following av amp, denon avr-x1400h, avr-x540bt, avr-x2400h. Onkyo ht-r395 (htin ht-s3800 set), ht-r695 (ht-s7800)

3. Using dobly front speaker, two in one format. Front LR speaker facing forward. And also, separate but in same box, front LR height speaker facing CEILING for bouncing sound off ceiling, for dobly atmos 7.1 effect

Optical will only give you dd or dts and often it 2.0. Hopefully your tv will output 5.1 via arc. Your better off having a seperate streaming box. As for up mixing to 7.1, my typical view is to leave the source orginal, not to say that up mixing is bad it just depends on the sources. Very little content is in 7.1, and would be better served to do 5.x.2 or 4 for dtsx and atmos.
