Hello, can anyone pls explain me why a hifi speaker or sub , never has a balanced trs or xlr connection.
I want to build my own sub, just about 100 watt rms , not everwelming ,since a live in een appartement and my dj/studio monitors allready have quite a sound, but i want the real low let be done through 1 monitor , which also is musical, but since i love scratching also can give a nice punch, only the semi balanced or rca connection for a sub aint gonna work. Building an amp is no problem, but the dj/studio world is a bit different when it comes to brands. The built will be propably be something with to two lm3886st and toshiba's 2sc5200 with counterpart, since i have a lot of them, but it ain't gonna be a
a power house..... it has to be stable. greets richard
Which speaker/brands are recommened?
thank you people

The experts on interconnects & interference like Bill Whitlock, Jim Brown & Neil Muncy(RIP) often ask the same question. Back in olden times when a hi-fi had 3 or 4 inputs and a 6 foot cable was a long cable it wasn't a big deal. Now cable TV & internet connections along with multi-room systems are a big challenge for RCA interconnect systems. But XLR chassis jacks are big and most receivers don't have back panel space for many. Now both RCA & XLR may be OBE (Overtake By Events) with newer digital A/V interconnect systems.

Because most home speaker are passive so they dont need xlr or trs connector. As for subs, most are designed to be used with avr which has rca connectors.
If you wish to built your own, just buy the amps with xlr connectors for input to power your sub and speakers.
